The sinking van der wijck ship

Zainudin come from makasar who has a father from minang. According to tradition he hasn’t a clear origin because his mother doesn’t have tribe although his father is come from minang. For that reason hayati’s family reject zainudin proposal. By the letter hayati has lied to zainudin that she accept aziz’s proposal is not because wealth and lust.

Zainudin wants to forget that incident by move to Jakarta. He become the famous novelist. Because of his performance, zainudin move to Surabaya to handle the company there. Aziz and hayati also move to Surabaya for bussines. One day, zainudin arrange an opera based on his novel Teroesir. He invite all sumatras who stays in Surabaya including aziz. Hayati feel surprise watching the scene in the opera because the story is similar to zainudin and hayati’s past.

Aziz , hayati and zainudin meet in a party after the opera. Aziz has broke asking a favor to zainudin to stay at his house. Zainudin allowed. Aziz feels shy because he always stays at zainudin’s house so he go a way to search a job. A few week later, zainudin receive a letter that with that letter aziz has divorce hayati. As a his thanks he give hayati back to zainudin.

Actually, zainudin want hayati to back to minang. Zainudin seems would like to keep the story between him and hayati forgotten. By using the van der wijck ship hayati go back to padang. In the journey the ship sank. Zainudin search hayati in the hospital immideatly. In there zainudin tells about his true feeling that he still loves hayati very much. But hayati finally die in zainudin’s hug.

This movie duration is three hours. I think between the title and content of this movie hasn’t a corelation. Most of this movie tells about a love story and van der wijck ship only as an object that made zainudin feel lost hayati. The message I got from this movie is don’t make a revenge to cover the love feeling. If you love someone so you must fight for it.
