ronggeng dukuh paruk

Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk novel tells about a ronggeng named Srintil. From she was a little, she has an ambition to be ronggeng. But her desire not approved by Rasus, her bestfriend. But Srintil still want to be a ronggeng. This is make Rasus angry with Srintil, Dukuh Paruk too. Because for Rasus, Srintil not only be his friend. All this time Rasus see his mother via Srintil. But that all dissapeared when Srintil officialy become a ronggeng. Rasus go away from Dukuh Paruk. Until the end, he come back as a soldier. Someone who considered very great in dukuh paruk. Srintil want Rasus to stay in Dukuh Paruk. Srintil can provide the land, rice fields, and everything that rasus want.

Departure Rasus make Srintil has change. She don’t want again to serve the man and don’t want to be ronggeng again. Is a mistake if a ronggeng fallin in love. Goder, is new spirit for Srintil to still a live. A son with honesty and innocence. So goder be Srintil’s son. Goder spoiled, bought rice, land, goats, and everything that not need to Goder. All that because Srintil loves goder much.

Srintil want to be a mother. Srintil imposible to bear, because maybe her womb has been turned off by Miss Kertajaya.

One day, bakar come to visit dukuh paruk. He is a good person, has a fatherly character. Srintil always invited if there is a meeting. Bakar is a political person. But who knows that he is one of PKI’s member. He had a purpose behind his goodness. Thing is never suspect by Srintil is become a prisioner for two years because she is has a relation with Bakar and his party. So during two years Srintil is never come back to Dukuh Paruk. Rasus searching where is Srintil now.

When Srintil come back to Dukuh Paruk, Goder doesn’t recognize to Srintil. From persuation Tampi, the real mother of Goder so Srintil can get Goder back. Srintil is has changed after missing during two years. She isn’t again prominent like usually. Her make up like most woman. And again, Rasus is come back and he still don’t want to married with Srintil although she is not ronggeng again. Before Rasus go to borneo, rasus leave a message to Kertajaya that “whoever that want srintil to serious in relationship so support her, but if not so disallow her.”

Because message from Rasus so Srintil have a relation with Bajus. He is a contractor. According to Srintil, Bajus is good person, and appreciate her. But the reality Bajus has a bad purpose and Bajus don’t want to married Srintil. She is gone mad. 

Rasus come back to Dukuh Paruk and so shocked when he see Srintil now. Rasus have a desire to cure Srintil so she can back like the way she used to. And he tell to the nurse who treat that Srintil is his wife to be.

According to me this story is so interesting . From the character aspects the name is so unique. Like Srintil, Rasus, Secamenggala, Sentika, Goder, Bajus, and many more. that characters name in this story I’ve never heard before. So this story have a charm to the reader.

There is a movie created based on this novel. And that film is not as same as with the novel. The director can’t make the good visualization from the novel.
